Walk across the Rialto Bridge, the grand stone arch that has spanned the Grand Canal since the 16th century. Browse the small shops on the bridge and watch boat traffic pass below.

📖

Full description

Rialto Bridge is a single-arch stone footbridge from the 16th century spanning the Grand Canal, with two rows of shops running along its covered walkways. It links the San Marco and San Polo districts and sits beside the Rialto market area.

Visitors come for the views of gondolas, water taxis and palaces from the central arches, and for the photo opportunities by day and at night. It is crowded for much of the day, so early mornings and evenings are the calmest.

Twenty minutes is enough to cross, look around and take pictures.
