Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Zaccaria

4.5 ·

Slip into the Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Zaccaria, a peaceful church minutes from St Mark's. Admire the interior, then pay the small fee to see older Romanesque fragments in the adjoining areas.

📖

Full description

San Zaccaria is a calm church in Castello, just steps from the busy St Mark's area, and visitors describe a peaceful, prayerful atmosphere. It was founded in the second half of the 15th century to house the relics of Zechariah, father of John the Baptist.

Entering the main church is free, while a small charge opens additional areas that hold older treasures, including fragments of a Romanesque floor and earlier church remains. It makes an easy, restful addition to a walk through eastern Venice.

Reviews

Don’t go for the crypt, there is nothing to see. 7 euros to see some water on the floor. However the church is very beautiful and nice to see.
