Food
Osteria Bonelli sits well away from the historic center and draws a genuinely local crowd, with reviewers noting it's often full of Romans rather than tourists despite affordable pricing. Its Carbonara pasta gets specific, emphatic praise as an authentic version of the dish, and the overall menu is described as delivering real Roman cooking rather than a simplified tourist take. With 6,802 reviews at 4.5 stars and a very high must-see score alongside a low hidden-gem score, it has clearly become well known despite its neighborhood setting. It's a strong choice for travelers willing to go slightly out of the center for a genuinely local meal.

"Go here for an authentic meal experience in Rome! The price is affordable and it’s full of locals as well. We almost didn’t get a table because it was full and we didn’t make a reservation but we came before peak dinner time so thankfully we got lucky. We had the carbonara, calamares, and suppli. They were really good. The calamares were fresh, carbonara was not too salty, and the suppli was flavorful. Though the other tables were ordering something more popular but since we didn’t know it at the time, we just went for the safest options. If given the chance, we would come back to try those for sure."
