Caffè Hungaria

3.6 (1,350)$ · Budget-friendly

Caffè Hungaria sits in Parioli, a residential part of Rome well outside the main tourist circuit, and reviewers describe fluffy banana pancakes topped generously with fresh bananas as a highlight, alongside solid burgers and pasta. Its very high local score paired with a low must-see score confirms this as a genuine neighbourhood spot serving residents rather than visitors, and the lower 3.6 rating suggests a more mixed, inconsistent experience than some of Rome's other breakfast cafés. It's a good pick for travellers wanting to eat where actual Romans eat rather than in the historic centre. Budget-friendly pricing adds to its appeal for regular visits.

What people say

"The banana pancakes were simply divine—fluffy, perfectly sweetened, and generously topped with fresh bananas between each stack. Each bite was like a little piece of heaven! To complement the meal, I ordered a cappuccino that was the epitome of balance. The blend of rich espresso with smooth, creamy milk was just right, not too strong or too mild. It was truly one of the best cappuccinos I’ve had in a long time. On top of the delicious food and drinks, the service was outstanding. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect without being intrusive. Whether you’re stopping by for breakfast or just a coffee break, this is a must-visit! Side note, they also have scrambled eggs and omelettes which is a challenging find."
