Prague Metronome

4.3 ·

Climb to the Prague Metronome for one of the city's most relaxed viewpoints. Pause beside the giant swinging pendulum and look out over the Vltava, the bridges and the Old Town rooftops.

📖

Full description

The Prague Metronome stands on a hillock in Letná Park, a short climb of around 100 steps from the street. The oversized pendulum swings above the city, and the plinth around it has become a casual gathering place covered in graffiti.

What draws people up here is the panorama of the river, bridges and Old Town rooftops, which reviewers say is easier to enjoy than the busier viewpoints because it is less crowded. The mood is calm and relaxed, especially around sunset and into the evening.

It is a quick stop of about 20 minutes, and it is open around the clock and free.

Good to know

  • Go around sunset for the best light over the city
  • expect graffiti and uneven upkeep rather than a polished monument
  • combine it with a walk through Letná Park, since the stop itself takes only about 20 minutes.

Reviews

Offers a beautiful panoramic view of the city. It’s a great spot to pause, relax, and admire Prague from above, especially during sunset or in the evening. The atmosphere around the area feels calm and open, making it a lovely escape from the crowded tourist streets. Definitely worth visiting for the view alone!
