Casa Expresso

4.7 ·

Wander into Casa Expresso, the Porto tasca where locals fill the simple tables. Order homemade alheira or a stew and a cheap beer for a meal that feels very much like everyday Porto.

📖

Full description

Casa Expresso is the kind of local tasca visitors hope to stumble upon: simple tables, a room full of residents and hearty homemade Portuguese cooking at low prices. Reviewers mention alheira sausage made from a mix of pork, veal and chicken, as well as stewed chicken gizzards, and describe portions as generous.

One group nearly walked past after seeing beer advertised at 1.50 euros, then called the place a real discovery. With a 4.7 rating and a typical visit of around an hour, it works well for solo travellers and families wanting an unpretentious meal.

It opens through the day on Saturdays but is closed on Mondays.

Reviews

The food is delicious. The portion is big enough for me. I ate Alheira - Portuguese Sausages, it is true homemade with mix of meat - pork, veal and chicken. My friend ate stewed chicken gizzards, you can request to add rice (2€). The waiter is very friendly. When lunch time, you can see a waiting line. Definitely…
