Explore Campanhã, the railway-hub district on Porto's eastern edge. Walk its residential streets and get a feel for a side of the city most visitors never see.
Full description
Campanhã is Porto's eastern district, best known as the home of the city's main intercity train station. Away from the station it is a largely residential, working neighbourhood that sees few tourists, giving it an authentic and low-key atmosphere.
It suits visitors who like exploring beyond the postcard centre and seeing everyday urban life, with a quieter, more solitary kind of walk. A short visit of around 45 minutes is enough to get a feel for the area, and it can easily be combined with a stop at the station or a continued walk toward nearby Bonfim.
