Bolhão Market

4.5 ·

Wander through Bolhão Market, Porto's much-loved food hall in a neoclassical building. Browse fresh seafood, fruit and prepared dishes downstairs, then head upstairs for craft stalls and a place to sit.

📖

Full description

Bolhão Market is one of Porto's best-known food landmarks, set in a neoclassical building with stalls arranged over two levels. Downstairs you find fresh seafood, produce and food counters, while the upper level has sit-in spots and craft stalls.

Visitors describe the renovated market as clean and modern, with easy card payment, and note that arriving early avoids the crowds. It suits a short browse or a snack stop rather than a long sit-down meal, since reviewers say it is better to look at than to dine in.

Reviews

Truly a must visit in Porto! Go early if you can so you’ll avoid the crowds. You will not leave empty handed or with an empty stomach! Lots of choices from fresh (and I mean really fresh) seafood to a variety of portugese cheeses or sandwiches. You can enjoy a glass of Port wine and take a stroll in the market.
