Landmark
Built by Louis XIV as a home for wounded soldiers, this landmark complex now houses the Musée de l'Armée and Napoleon's tomb beneath its gilded dome. The emperor's remains, returned from Saint Helena in 1840, were placed here in a ceremony known as the Retour des Cendres. Visitors can explore military history exhibits alongside the tomb itself.

Buy tickets in advance online to skip queues, and enter through the correct entrance (Army Museum entrance) as signage can be confusing. Allow at least 2-3 hours to see the tomb, dome, and museum collections.

"A great memorial and peaceful place. We went here after long walk around the city, and we got some rest and re-energised ourselves there. During the day we went, we actually have to enter from army museum entrance, so it’s a big de-tour from the Napoleons tomb direct entrance we found online. This might be a tips for you to plan if you’re planning out now. And you can visit few places together (if you have PMP you may utilise a lot here)"
