Climb to Fondation Maeght, the hilltop museum above Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Wander between galleries and open-air courtyards to see Calder, Miró and Chagall works, then break for a meal in the garden restaurant.
Full description
Fondation Maeght crowns a hill outside Saint-Paul-de-Vence and pairs modern and contemporary art with purpose-built architecture and landscaped gardens. Works by 20th-century figures such as Calder, Miró and Chagall are shown indoors and among the terraces and courtyards, so the building and the setting become part of the experience.
Visitors praise the well-documented galleries, relaxed pace and the garden restaurant. Plan around two hours, longer if you linger outdoors.
It works especially well for couples and art lovers combining a morning here with a walk through the nearby village.

Reviews
A really worthwhile experience! Relaxing, well laid out well documented gallery. Gardens and restaurant are great. The labyrinth, truely…
