Basilique Notre-Dame de l’Assomption

4.7 ·

Step into Nice's neo-Gothic landmark, the Basilique Notre-Dame de l'Assomption. Admire the twin-towered facade, then walk the nave to see the stained glass colour the stone interior.

📖

Full description

Basilique Notre-Dame de l'Assomption is one of Nice's biggest churches and an unmistakable example of neo-Gothic style on the Riviera. Its facade echoes the main features of Notre-Dame in Paris, with two imposing towers framing the entrance.

Construction began in 1864 and finished in 1879. Inside, the stained glass fills the nave with colour, and visitors describe a welcoming space that still serves an active parish community.

The visit is short and free, which makes it an easy addition to a walk through the modern city centre, away from the Old Town's narrow lanes.
