St. Peter's Church & Tower

4.7 ·

Step inside St. Peter's Church, Munich's oldest church and a quiet counterpart to the busier old town sights. Admire the gilded interior and the jewelled skeleton of St. Mundita, then climb the tower for city views.

📖

Full description

St. Peter's Church stands in Munich's old town and is regarded as the city's oldest church.

Inside, gilded decoration and a richly painted ceiling draw the eye toward the altar, while the jewelled skeleton of St. Mundita is among its most unusual sights.

Visitors can also climb the tower for a panoramic outlook over the rooftops and towards the Alps on clear days. Reviewers praise the peaceful interior and the quality of the artwork, and note that it often gets overlooked next to better-known central attractions.

A visit of about 30 minutes covers the nave and the tower climb.

Reviews

You pay 5 euros to climb up the to the tower. The stairs are windy and different width and depth. So pay attention. Once your up the tower follow the flow of traffic. But once your up there the views are amazing. There is a bench that is indoor so you can sit for awhile and look at the views.
