Head out to Riemer See, a bright artificial lake set in a big park in eastern Munich. Walk the shoreline, dip into the water from the sandy banks, and relax away from the city centre.
Full description
Riemer See is a man-made lake set within a big park in eastern Munich, close to the Messe exhibition grounds and conference centre. Fine sand banks make it a favourite for swimming, and the water is described by regulars as strikingly blue.
A café on site covers the basics, and the surrounding parkland offers space to walk or simply sit by the shore. It is free and open around the clock, and an hour allows a lakeside stroll, though many visitors stay far longer on warm days.
