📖

Full description

Karlsplatz, called Stachus by locals, sits at the western edge of Munich's pedestrian zone and serves as both a landmark and a major transport junction with bus, tram and metro links. The historic Karlstor gate leads directly into the main shopping street toward Marienplatz, while the square itself holds a fountain, places to sit and an underground shopping arcade.

Reviewers describe a lively, market-like atmosphere with plenty of food, sweets and drinks nearby. It is open 24 hours and easily covered in about 15 minutes as a first or last stop.
