Wander through Hellabrunn Zoo, Munich's spacious geo-zoo beside the Isar. Move between animal habitats grouped by continent, from great apes to capybaras, in roomy enclosures that make the walk as enjoyable as the animals.
Full description
Hellabrunn Zoo is built as a geo-zoo, grouping animals by their region of origin in large, naturalistic enclosures rather than traditional cages. Visitors describe a spacious, clean and well-organised park with a wide variety of species, with chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans and capybaras mentioned as highlights.
It suits families but equally appeals to adults, and a full visit takes around three hours, with moderate walking between sections. Opening hours are generous on most days, making it a strong morning-to-afternoon activity.

Brilliant zoo about 15 mins drive from the town centre. Lots of educational information and buildings to explore. A wide range of animals to see many of which were very active. Spent around 6 -7 hours there. Went on a Saturday but wasn't overcrowded and plenty of space to move around. Dogs are welcome though not…
