Lose an afternoon in the English Garden, Munich's sprawling central park. Wander shaded paths, pause by the lake or river, and settle into the beer garden beside the Chinese Tower.
Full description
The English Garden is Munich's great central park, laid out in the 18th century and stretching across a vast area with extensive cycling and jogging routes. Visitors picnic on the lawns, boat on the lake, cool off in the river and eat at the beer garden by the Chinese Tower.
Families find play areas, while couples and walkers enjoy the meticulously maintained grounds. Free and open around the clock, it easily absorbs two hours or a full afternoon, and its popularity means there is always a lively crowd, especially on warm days.

Love the nature here. So many people are here all the time. You have people bringing picnic blankets and fairy lights and stereos to chill and vibe and party. The river is also a fun place to cool down in the summer. Watching the surfers is interesting for a bit but surprisingly there’s always a huge crowd
