Zona Tortona

Walk Zona Tortona, the former factory district that became Milan's design capital. Pass converted warehouses, studios and showrooms, and peek into creative courtyards that reveal the city's contemporary side.

📖

Full description

Zona Tortona is a former industrial area of warehouses and workshops that has been converted into one of Milan's main creative districts. Studios, showrooms, galleries and fashion and design offices occupy the old factory buildings, and the neighbourhood comes alive during Milan Design Week when many spaces open to the public for installations.

Outside of the big events it keeps a quieter, slightly unusual atmosphere, with street art, courtyards and cafés tucked among the industrial architecture. It is a good fit for visitors interested in contemporary design and urban reinvention, and takes about an hour and a quarter to explore on foot.
