Escape the city to Morimondo Abbey, a tranquil monastic site in the countryside south-west of Milan. Join a guided tour of its centuries of abbey life, then linger over a meal in the village.
Full description
Morimondo Abbey sits outside central Milan in the village of Morimondo, which gives it a quiet, spiritual atmosphere that reviewers say is strongest on weekdays. Guided tours explain how the community lived and worked across the centuries, adding depth beyond the architecture.
The surroundings are easy to enjoy at a slow pace: there is a restroom by the abbey, a bar and restaurants nearby, and cyclists often arrive by bike. A visit takes around 45 minutes with little walking involved, so it pairs well with a relaxed lunch in the village.
It is open daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Reviews
We went here by bike. There’s a bar and restaurant near the area, it is both peaceful and good place to relax and spend time. There’s also a restroom just near the abbey.
