Isola

Wander Isola, the former working-class quarter now buzzing with street art and craft bars. Stroll between small independent shops and settle in for a drink in the shadow of Porta Nuova's modern towers.

📖

Full description

Isola, meaning island, got its name from being cut off from the rest of the city by railway lines. Once a working-class area, it now blends independent shops, street art, creative studios and a busy evening scene of bars and restaurants.

The neighbourhood sits right next to the modern towers of Porta Nuova, creating a sharp contrast between small-scale streets and glass skyscrapers, with the Bosco Verticale nearby. Evenings are the best time to visit, when the cafés fill up and the area takes on a relaxed, local energy ideal for couples.
