Escape to Boscoincittà, a sprawling green park at the edge of Milan where the city fades into woodland and meadow. Stroll its trails, watch tortoises by the pond, and settle into a picnic spot.
Full description
Boscoincittà is a large park on the outskirts of Milan, opened in 1974 and spread over 110 hectares of woodland, meadows and farmland paths. It offers a pond, picnic areas, trails and an apiary, and reviewers mention tortoises sunbathing, birds, rabbits and squirrels along the way.
Many describe it as feeling far from the city, even though skyscrapers are occasionally visible on the horizon. Long flat paths suit walking, jogging and family outings, and some barbecue spots must be reserved days ahead.
Entry is free during daytime opening hours.

Reviews
Nice huge park for a nice long walk or jogging. Love watching the tortoises sunbathing, kids feeding them, birds chipping & you’ll spot some rabbits & squirrels all over. The park is cool even on a hot day, as it’s shady due to the lush greeneries.
