Head south to Usera, Madrid's lively Chinatown and one of its most distinctive local districts. Wander the streets of Asian supermarkets and bakeries, then sit down to a noodle or hotpot lunch.
Full description
Usera lies south of the Manzanares river and has grown into Madrid's best-known Chinatown, shaped by decades of Chinese and wider Asian immigration. Streets around Avenida de Andalucía and Calle Marcelo Usera are packed with Asian grocery stores, bakeries, hotpot and noodle restaurants, and shops selling goods rarely found elsewhere in the city.
It is a residential, everyday neighbourhood rather than a polished tourist zone, which is much of its appeal for travellers wanting a more local, off-the-beaten-path side of Madrid. Food is the main draw, best explored on foot with an appetite.
