Estación Museo de Chamberí

4.5 ·

Go underground at Estación Museo de Chamberí, a Metro station frozen in time since 1966. Walk the old platforms among original tiles and signage while live trains rumble past on Line 1.

📖

Full description

Estación Museo de Chamberí is a ghost station on Metro Line 1, opened in 1919 and abandoned in 1966, now open to visitors with its original decor intact. Trains still pass through on the live line, which adds to the atmosphere.

Visits are by free guided entry for small groups, typically in Spanish, with a QR code providing information in English. The station is compact, so about 30 minutes covers it, and it opens on a limited schedule that includes weekends.

It suits visitors after something unusual and well preserved.

Reviews

We booked a guided tour (free) a week before. The museum is in beautiful condition. As most on the tour were Spanish the tour was conducted in Spanish. We were given a QR code to read information in English which was very useful. Would recommend
