Head out to El Pardo Royal Palace, a former hunting lodge and later home of Franco on Madrid's northern edge. Tour the furnished rooms and chandeliers, then stroll the surrounding grounds if the weather allows.
Full description
El Pardo Royal Palace sits in the El Pardo district at the edge of Madrid, surrounded by large, rolling grounds. Originally a 15th-century hunting lodge, it was rebuilt in the 1900s and later became the residence of Francisco Franco.
Visits include a guided tour of the interiors, where reviewers point to chandeliers, furniture and period decor, though some find the tour short and rate the central Royal Palace as better value. The grounds can be tiring in summer heat.
A visit takes about 90 minutes, and the palace is closed on Mondays. Some reviewers mention free-entry slots on certain days for eligible residents.

Reviews
Quite a short guided tour and too hot to wander round the grounds for long. Some nice chandeliers, furniture etc., and interesting to see the decor. I think the royal palace in Madrid is better value, especially as you can choose to walk round unguided and there is so much more to see.
