Seek out the Chapel of Saint Isidore, the site tied to Madrid's patron saint. Step inside the renovated Baroque church, then find the spring outside where tradition says water miraculously appeared.
Full description
The Chapel of Saint Isidore stands on the spot where, according to tradition, Madrid's patron Saint Isidore the Labourer worked the land and caused a spring to appear. The Baroque church replaced an earlier hermitage and has been fully renovated, while the Fuente de San Isidro, the miraculous spring, sits just outside on the east side.
The site becomes very busy around the Feast of San Isidro, when locals gather in large numbers. Away from that festival it is a quiet, local corner of Carabanchel with a clear devotional character.
