The Lost Estate

4.6 (1,262)$$$ · Expensive

The Lost Estate builds fully realized theatrical worlds — most recently the 1920s-Parisian-cabaret setting of Chat Noir — where the audience eats a multi-course dinner while performers weave a story through the room around them. Reviewers describe it as closer to immersive theatre than dinner service, with meticulous attention to costume, set and character work. A 4.6 rating and a trendy_score of 89 point to a buzzy, in-demand evening rather than a conventional show, while a hidden_gem_score in the mid-40s suggests it hasn't yet reached mainstream landmark status. It suits couples or groups after a special-occasion night that combines food, spectacle and theatre in one sitting.

✨ Reasons to go

  • 1Its current production, Chat Noir, recreates a 1920s Parisian cabaret with a multi-course dinner woven into the performance
  • 2Performers stay in character and move through the room around diners rather than staging a traditional front-facing show
  • 3The company also stages seasonal literary adaptations, such as an atmospheric reading of A Christmas Carol with live music

💡 Good to know

  • 1Book well ahead, as productions run limited seasons and sell out
  • 2choose the evening slots for the full theatrical atmosphere
  • 3come hungry, since the dinner is a substantial part of the experience

What people say

"Out of the three excellent experiences I've had at the Lost Estate, this one was utterly cosmic! Every single little detail was perfection. We were completely mesmerized by the stunning performances, the costumes, the set and the music. Each performer held our attention completely, it was an absolute delight for all the senses. Truly Oh La La! Regarding details we were completely taken in by Rad, our charming drinks server who told us such a convincing back story, it took awhile for us to realise he was also acting. The food was exceptional. I had the veggie option and it was like the performances a sensation! I have encouraged many friends to transport themselves back to 1890's Paris and the beguiling world of Le Chat Noir! Bravo to all and thank you for a night I will never forget."
