The Castle Climbing Centre

4.7 (3,803)$$ · Mid-range

The Castle Climbing Centre occupies a genuine 19th-century pumping station in Stoke Newington, its castellated brick exterior giving the gym an unusually dramatic setting for indoor climbing. Spread across four floors, it offers a wide range of routes from bouldering to roped climbing, and reviewers frequently mention the welcoming community atmosphere alongside the variety on offer. It functions as a serious training venue for regular climbers as much as a one-off activity for visitors. The building's history adds character that's rare among climbing gyms.

What people say

"Great location with a variety of climbs and lovely staff as well as community. Spread over four floors you get a bit of everything to try between bouldering and rope climbing. There’s lockers either with locks and without locks (for your own) and there’s shoes, harnesses and chalk you can rent. Lovely cafe with food and drinks and delicious pastries as well as light warm food options with spacious tables to sit on both outside and inside."
