Kwãnt Mayfair

4.7 (379)$$ · Mid-range

Kwãnt Mayfair takes cues from Japanese omakase dining and applies the concept to cocktails, offering a curated, bartender-led sequence of drinks alongside small bites. The concept has drawn a trendy, experience-seeking crowd to Stratton Street, though reviews are more mixed on whether the compact, three-cocktail signature menu justifies the price for everyone. It suits those looking for a novel, guided drinking experience over a large menu to choose from.

✨ Reasons to go

  • 1Applies the Japanese omakase dining format to cocktails, with a bartender-led sequence rather than a menu to choose from.
  • 2The signature format centers on just three curated cocktails paired with small bites per seating.

💡 Good to know

  • 1Book ahead, as the omakase-style format runs on limited seatings
  • 2go in with an open mind about the curated format rather than expecting a full menu
  • 3note the premium pricing reflects the tasting-style experience.

What people say

"Overall the cocktails I’ve tried were below my expectations, especially given the price. They only have 3 signature cocktails and two of them were just small twists on well known classics and not something inventive that I would have liked to see. The cherry miracles was a well made cocktail that tasted very nicely but I couldn’t see much difference from the basic mixture of amaretto and cherry and I didn’t understand what made this cocktail their signature. The See under the Sea cocktail was a martini twist - dry and I couldn’t find anything that would made it special too. This cocktail was definitely not my style. On the flip side, the menu featured some high and and rare spirits and champagne. The staff were attentive. The interior was a mixture - I didn’t quite like the atmosphere of the majority of the place but the bar area was really nice, although we were seated away from the bar. If going there, I would definitely recommend seating at the bar. In general, it would be a 4-star place to me based on the lack of inventiveness and it probably goes to 3 stars based on much higher prices than the other bars in this category. Unfortunately, I am not eager to go back"
