Chiswick House and Gardens

4.6 (4,447)$$ · Mid-range

Built in the 1720s by Richard Boyle, the 3rd Earl of Burlington, Chiswick House was conceived as a showcase for the neo-Palladian style he'd fallen in love with on his travels in Italy, its domed villa surrounded by grounds credited as an early influence on the English landscape garden movement later perfected at places like Stowe. Reviewers with a 4.6 rating praise the well-kept gardens for an easy loop walk as much as the house itself, describing a genuinely restorative spot that feels far removed from central London despite being a short trip out. Its high walking intensity in the data reflects the sizeable grounds, making it a good half-day option for anyone wanting greenery alongside architecture.

What people say

"2 parts: An extremely well kept park, it's a delight to walk through doing a loop and you can see most of it in 45mns. Be careful the car park is not big so either get in early or prepare to wait for a free spot. The Chiswick House is great! Staff are fantastic and very well maintained. You get a tour device describing the rooms n u can't take pics in certain rooms. Also look everywhere as u may miss some rooms like the sphinx like lead model on the ground floor. We got in at open time 10:30am n not busy."
