Wander into Park Necessidades, a overgrown, atmospheric garden where peacocks stroll past giant cacti. Climb its shaded paths, explore the old buildings and the duck ponds, and look out for river views through the trees.
Full description
Tapada das Necessidades is a hillside park of mature trees, ponds, enormous cacti and weathered historic buildings, with peacocks wandering freely through the grounds. Paths climb steeply in places and offer glimpses toward the Tagus River.
Reviewers describe it as a gem to explore at a leisurely pace, though some areas are locked, under reconstruction or visibly neglected, which adds to its faded, secret-garden character. Opening hours are limited and vary by day, so it suits a calm 45-minute walk for couples and photographers rather than a full outing.

Barred from one side, where reconstruction works are taking place, very steep climb up, you could find the peacocks when you walk up a wallstair and peak over the wall and through a gate,it was no open entrypoint.there were 3 male peacocks all feathers showing, for all the peahens..the rest of park were some ruined…
