Spend a day at Jardim Zoológico, Lisbon's historic zoo in landscaped, tile-decorated grounds. See elephants, gorillas and big cats, visit the children's farm, and time your route to catch a dolphin show.
Full description
Jardim Zoológico is a large, well-organised zoo keeping around 300 species, including elephants, giraffes, gorillas and big cats, with a children's farm and a conservation programme alongside the daily dolphin shows. Visitors note well-maintained grounds with decorative tilework and lush planting, which gives the park a distinctly Lisbon character beyond the animal exhibits.
It is spread over a wide area, so expect a good amount of walking, and a full visit takes around four hours. It is best suited to families, and mornings are usually the most comfortable time to go.
