Step into Estufa Fria, Lisbon's lush greenhouse garden tucked into the city. Wind past waterfalls, statues and hundreds of exotic plants in a cool, sheltered setting that feels worlds away from the streets outside.

📖

Full description

Estufa Fria is a sheltered greenhouse garden where hundreds of exotic plants grow among waterfalls, ponds and statues. Its many nooks and winding paths give it an enclosed, almost secret feel, and reviewers repeatedly describe a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city.

It is well kept, with towering trees from around the world, and works for couples, families and anyone wanting a calm, atmospheric hour. It is closed on Mondays and open until 7 pm the rest of the week, and quieter early on, since school groups can fill the paths later in the day.

Reviews

This place was my favorite, and it was enchanting. From Sunday until 2 PM, admission is free. I recommend arriving when it opens at 10 AM because there aren't many people and we can explore the beautiful sights.
