Kazimierz

Step into Kazimierz, Kraków's historic Jewish quarter and its most atmospheric district for an unhurried wander. Pass synagogues and old squares, browse galleries and vintage shops, then settle at a courtyard café or a Plac Nowy bar as evening arrives.

📖

Full description

Kazimierz was a separate town for centuries and later the heart of Kraków's Jewish life, and its street grid still reflects that history. Synagogues, old cemeteries, and the wide Szeroka Street sit alongside Plac Nowy, a hub of food stalls and bars, and a dense scatter of galleries, vintage shops, and courtyard cafés.

The mood shifts across the day, from contemplative in the morning to social in the evening. It is one of the best districts for slow walking, with plenty of places to stop between sights.
