Escape to Tyniec, a cliff-top Benedictine abbey overlooking the Vistula. Wander the grounds, pick up beer brewed by the monks and cross the river for the best view back.
Full description
Tyniec Abbey is widely described as the oldest abbey in Poland, set on a rocky outcrop above the Vistula river south-west of the city centre. Active Benedictine monks still live here and sell their own beer in the abbey shop.
Visitors arrive by bike along the river, by public transport or by car, and often spend around an hour exploring the grounds. Reviewers recommend crossing to the opposite bank for the best view of the abbey rising from the cliff.
It suits a half-day outing away from the Old Town crowds.

Beautiful abbey, the oldest in Poland. Located on the borders of the Wisla. Active benedictine monks brew great beers, that are for sale in the shop. About 13 km from Krakow, easily reachable by bicycle over a nice bicycle path along the river.
