Find St. Esprit Cathedral, a hidden courtyard church in the middle of Istanbul's bustle. Step inside to see its chandeliers and the interior of the city's main Catholic place of worship.

📖

Full description

St. Esprit Cathedral serves as the seat of Istanbul's Catholic bishop and is tucked into a courtyard just off a busy street, so it is easy to walk past.

Visitors single out its interior, particularly the many chandeliers, and note the living congregation: Sunday mass is held in English at 10:00, with services in other languages too. Opening hours are split around midday, with a break between 12:00 and 15:30, so timing matters.

Entry is free and a visit takes about 20 minutes.
