Cross the Bosphorus by boat to Maiden's Tower, Istanbul's most legend-laden landmark. Climb up through the small museum, read the stories behind its origins, and enjoy views of the city as the light fades.
Full description
Maiden's Tower sits on a small islet in the Bosphorus and is wrapped in legends about its origins and purpose, while also having served as a lighthouse. Today a short boat ride takes visitors across to a small museum with information boards about the tower's story, a restaurant, and a climb to the top.
Reviewers feel the view of the tower from the mainland is more striking than the view from it, though the visit is still appreciated, especially before sunset. Allow around an hour including the crossing.
It is open into the evening, which suits late-day plans.

Reviews
My respects! This tower is surrounded by legends, but purely aesthetically, it looks beautiful and pleasing. Since history is not an exact science, its origin and purpose also differ. All we can do is enjoy the views.
