Visit Eyüpsultan, a revered district at the top of the Golden Horn. Stroll the mosque courtyards, wander the hillside cemetery, and take the cable car up for tea and a panorama of the water.
Full description
Eyüpsultan is a quiet, devout district at the head of the Golden Horn, centred on the Eyüp Sultan Mosque and the shrine of a companion of the Prophet Muhammad. The surrounding area includes a large hillside cemetery with Ottoman tombstones and the Pierre Loti viewpoint, reached on foot or by cable car.
Worshippers and visitors move through its courtyards and small streets at a calm pace. It offers a more spiritual and traditional side of Istanbul than the main sightseeing core.
