Visit the Royal Scottish Academy, an elegant Georgian gallery from 1826 in central Edinburgh. Move through exhibitions of modern art and architecture, and try the drawing areas set up for visitors.

📖

Full description

The Royal Scottish Academy occupies a bright, elegant Georgian building from 1826 in the centre of the city, showing exhibitions of art and architecture. Reviewers mention a New Contemporaries show with striking pieces, as well as areas set aside for drawing and interactive art.

The central location makes it an easy stop, though visitors in summer report that busy galleries can get warm and that facilities occasionally lag behind, including a lift that was out of service. Plan around 45 minutes.

Reviews

Cool & interesting exhibition of various types of art pieces. The toilets are free, however, not clean. The elevator is also not functioning. There are areas for drawing and interactive arts. The underground floor connects to the national gallery.
