Escape the city for Portobello Beach, Edinburgh's classic seaside stretch on the Firth of Forth. Walk the sand, follow the promenade, and warm up with a drink at one of the front-facing tea shops.
Full description
Portobello Beach is Edinburgh's traditional seaside resort, a long sandy stretch looking out over the Firth of Forth with a promenade running alongside. Reviewers highlight clean sand, decent waves, charming tea shops along the front and especially good sunrises.
It is roughly a 25-minute bus ride from the city centre, which makes it an easy contrast to shopping on Princes Street. Plan around two hours to walk the sand, follow the prom and stop for a hot drink, with mornings and early evenings suiting the light best.

Reviews
It was wonderful experience. Beach is clean and tidy. Really a good place for sunny days. It was not crowded, so a very pleasant place for people who’d like empty beach. Good for pet walks.
