Escape the centre for Lauriston Castle, a tower house with Georgian and Edwardian layers beside the Forth. Tour the interiors, then wander the gardens, the Japanese garden and the cherry trees.
Full description
Lauriston Castle is a 16th-century tower house expanded in later centuries, with period interiors, art and relics that can be seen on a guided tour of the house. The grounds are a major part of the appeal: well-kept gardens, a Japanese garden with cherry trees and walks with views over the Forth.
Reviewers also mention free parking, toilets and a cafe, plus a lively ghost tour led by a entertaining guide. It works equally as a short garden stroll or a fuller visit including the house, typically about an hour.

We did the "Gohst tour" 👻. Our guide Alex 🧙♂️ brought a bit of fun to our group, and was a very entertaining character. The grounds are stunning, even on a dull day. Its lovely to see Crammond from another view also. You could easily spend the day here and have a picnic on the lovely grounds. 🥰🪷🌸🌺🏵🪴🌼
