Settle into the Dominion Cinema, a 1938 Art Deco gem in Morningside. Catch a mainstream film in plush, old-fashioned comfort and take in the cafe-bar and period details before the lights go down.
Full description
The Dominion Cinema is a 1938 Art Deco picture house in Edinburgh's Morningside district, known for pairing current mainstream releases with an old-fashioned atmosphere. Visitors describe walking in as stepping back in time, and praise the welcoming staff and the distinctive seating style.
A cafe-bar adds to the sense of an evening out rather than a quick screening. Reviewers note that sound quality and room temperature can be uneven, so it is best enjoyed for the setting as much as the film.
It suits couples and locals looking for a relaxed, characterful alternative to a multiplex.
