Spend a relaxed morning at Cramond Beach, a peaceful stretch of Edinburgh's Firth of Forth shoreline. Walk the sand, time the tide for the island crossing, and finish with an ice cream.
Full description
Cramond Beach lies in the village of Cramond on Edinburgh's northern shore, a short drive from the city centre and a calm contrast to the Old Town. The beach looks out over the Firth of Forth, and a tidal route leads across to Cramond Island, so checking the tide times on the information board is essential before walking over.
An ice-cream van is often parked nearby, public toilets are available, and there is a car park close to the shore. Visitors usually spend around two hours, and the setting suits couples, families and relaxed coastal walks.
