Escape to Corstorphine Hill, a wooded local retreat on Edinburgh's western side. Follow gravel paths through trees and rocky sections, then look out over the Firth of Forth from the top.
Full description
Corstorphine Hill is a local green space in western Edinburgh, mixing woodland, open grass, rocky sections and gravel paths that suit both short outings and longer walks. Reviewers note that some parts are almost vertical, so despite the gentle reputation it can feel demanding, and it is welcoming to dog walkers.
A tower on the hill is opened on Sunday afternoons in season by the Friends of Corstorphine Hill, with donations welcomed, and from the top there are views over the Firth of Forth and neighbouring hills. Visits commonly last around ninety minutes.
