Walk out to Poolbeg Lighthouse, Dublin's red sentinel at the end of the South Wall. Follow the seawall past anglers and cyclists, watching boats enter the port before turning back.
Full description
Poolbeg Lighthouse is a bright red landmark marking the mouth of Dublin Port, reached by following the Great South Wall out into the bay. Reviewers describe the roughly 4-kilometre round trip as a pleasant stroll with open sea views and ships passing in and out of the harbour.
The walk draws a mix of sightseers, fishermen and cyclists, and costs nothing. Allow about an hour for the full out-and-back.
It is a good pick for couples and solo walkers who want fresh air and a very different view of the city.

Beautiful stroll, if you are un Dublin for a couple of days and the weather is good, I’d totally recommend doing it, it’s free. It’s 4 kms to the lighthouse and back starting on the great south wall on cobblestones so wear comfy shoes. Keep in mind that there is no public restrooms or services in the premices. Enjoy…
