Ride the DART to Howth and set off on the cliff walk along the peninsula's rugged edge. Follow the coastal path past sheer drops and wide sea views, choosing how far to go.
Full description
The Howth Cliff Walk follows the rugged coastline of the Howth peninsula, reached by a roughly twenty-five-minute DART ride from central Dublin. It offers long views over cliffs and sea, and visitors describe it as one of the best walks near the city.
The full route is demanding and involves exposed sections, so those uneasy with heights often walk only the start for the views and turn back. Allow about two and a half hours for a substantial outing, with high walking intensity.
Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended, and the path is free and open at all hours.

Reviews
A quick and inexpensive ride on DART from Dublin. We enjoyed the long hike and breathtaking views of the cliffs and coastline. If you have a fear of heights, the full trail may not be ideal for you as there are some narrow passes with a steep drop off. Definitely worth a day trip from Dublin.
