Cross the Ha'penny Bridge, Dublin's famous cast-iron span over the Liffey. Stroll across, then follow the river along the quays for views back at the bridge.

📖

Full description

The Ha'penny Bridge is a cast-iron footbridge that opened in 1816 and takes its name from the half-penny toll once charged to cross. It links the north and south sides of the Liffey and is crossed by thousands of pedestrians every day.

Reviewers enjoy it both by day and in the evening, when the riverside atmosphere is at its liveliest. The bridge is free and open at all hours, so a stop of around 15 minutes fits easily into a walk along the quays.
