Step into the castle behind Hamlet at Kronborg, perched right on the Øresund. Wander through the banqueting hall and royal chambers, then walk the waterfront grounds with Sweden in view across the strait.
Full description
Kronborg sits on the water's edge at Helsingør, with the Swedish coast visible across the narrow strait. The castle holds a large banqueting hall and royal chambers, and it is widely known as the model for Elsinore in Shakespeare's Hamlet.
Reviewers praise how the presentation links medieval history with modern interpretation, and they recommend allowing a few hours to explore the rooms and the grounds outside. The Hamlet connection draws literary visitors, while the seaside position and sheer scale of the fortress appeal to anyone interested in Danish royal history.
Typical visits run around 90 minutes.

Great castle to visit. Recommend the 15 min free intro tour as set the scene. Then wander at will. Good signage through much of the castle. Great views from the tower of the surrounding area and town. Was quite quiet even though it was Iron Man day in the town.
