Full description

St. Stephen's Basilica is the largest church in Budapest, a neoclassical Roman Catholic building constructed between 1851 and 1905 and topped with a great cupola that anchors the skyline of Pest.

Inside, the nave is richly decorated with marble, mosaics and gilded detail, and the building also hosts regular organ and classical music concerts. Visitors who feel fit enough can climb to the dome for panoramic views, with tickets available online.

It sits a short walk inland from the Parliament and the Danube, which makes it an easy pairing with other central Pest sights.

Reviews

Impressive and uplifting, it is one of the most beautiful churches! Not only because of its location, but also because of its design! Tickets can be purchased online, and those who feel fit enough can go up to the tower, where the view is beautiful! I recommend it to everyone visiting this part of Pest.
