Step into Rumbach Street Synagogue, a Moorish-style gem in Budapest's Jewish Quarter. Admire the octagonal layout and dome, and listen to local guides explain its restoration.

📖

Full description

Rumbach Street Synagogue is a late 19th-century building with an octagonal plan, a central dome and Moorish-style detailing, set in Budapest's Jewish Quarter. After roughly 60 years of decay it was carefully restored, reopening around 2021 to visitors.

Guests are given a head covering at the entrance, and members of the local community offer explanations of the synagogue's past and present. It is quieter and less visited than the nearby Dohány Street Synagogue, which suits those who prefer a smaller space.

It is closed on Saturdays.
