Walk into the Ludwig Museum, Budapest's home for contemporary art in the IX. district. See Pop Art, Central and Eastern European works and rotating shows that map decades of post-war creativity.
Full description
The Ludwig Museum in IX. kerület focuses on contemporary art, with US Pop Art, Eastern and Central European pieces and a programme of temporary shows. Reviewers highlight works by Picasso and a collection that helps explain five decades of post-war Eastern European art, as well as thought-provoking temporary exhibitions that can lean towards darker themes.
It is a good fit for solo visitors who like to take their time with ideas. Evening opening on Saturday until 8:00 PM makes it one of the few museums in the area that suits an early-evening visit, and about an hour is typical.

Reviews
This museum is amazing! The collection and exhibitions are rich. Maybe you wouldn't lile morbide art at the current exhibition like me, but the story that it tells is wunderbar, you can learn much more about Hungarians, Slovaks and Czechs here then by speaking to them. All praise to the curators for all 3 exhibitions…
