Step into ELTE Füvészkert, one of Budapest's oldest botanical gardens. Walk through the glasshouses of orchids, cacti and carnivorous plants, then wander the shaded paths and water features outside.
Full description
ELTE Füvészkert is the botanical garden of Eötvös Loránd University in District VIII, founded in 1771. Large glasshouses hold cacti, orchids and carnivorous plants, while ponds and water features are scattered through the grounds.
Visitors describe it as a peaceful oasis, particularly welcome on hot days, and spring draws those who come for blooming trees. It is compact rather than sprawling, and some areas may be closed or less polished, so a one-hour visit with modest expectations on upkeep is about right.

Beautiful botanical gardens with lots to see including huge glasshouses, orchids, carnivorous plants, cacti, and water features dotted about. A welcome and peaceful oasis on a hot Budapest day, approx 5 mins to walk from the Metro stop, and a small bar/cafe right outside. Recommended.
